8 Tips for Earning $1,000/month Working from Home

Earning $1,000/month working from home can be life-changing. I know it sounds dramatic but it’s totally true. What would you do if you made an extra $1,000 per month?

Here’s what I’d do:

• Save it!
• Spend it!       Haha, not all of it, but those purchases that I keep putting off like buying super long luxurious bedroom curtains, getting our electrician to move our tv outlet so we can wall-mount the television with no wires showing, decorating for the next season, etc. I’d tackle some of these for sure.
• Invest it
• Pay tuition and go back to school
• Pay down Debt.

I’m sure you could come up with a pretty nice list too! The point is, making extra money can change your life and to make money from home, well, it’s dream for many.
Years back, I remember working in my corporate banking job so unhappy and grasping at any opportunity to make money online. There really wasn’t a lot of info out there on legitimate work from home opportunities. I tried many things. Some worked, some didn’t, and some were scams.
From that experience and my new passion for working from home, I’ve learned a lot about how to make extra money from home. I’m going to give you 8 tips for earning $1,000/month working from home.

Tip #1 Research, research, research

There are a lot of opportunities out there. I encourage you to do some thorough browsing to figure out what you’d like to do.

Some places to check out online:

• Upwork– great for freelancing opportunities like article writing, graphic design, social media management, and more.
• Problogger– great for finding tons of blogging-related opportunities like blog writing, SEO, etc.

Check out these blogs and sign up for their newsletters. You’ll get some awesome emails with loads of current opportunities available.

Tip #2  Hone in on your skills

Do some soul searching to find out what your passions are and what you’d enjoy doing for some extra income. Some examples:

• Writing
• Graphic design (like logos, business cards, Pinterest pins, Facebook covers, etc.)
• Social media management
• Virtual assisting
• Proofreading
• Transcription work

Some of these sounds like you might need a degree or background in the field but you don’t. Transcription work, for example, is a great way to make $1,000/month or more! If you are a fast typist and have a great attention to detail, this is a great field for you!
Once you uncover your skills, you can start to refine your search.

Tip #3  Head over to Pinterest

Yes, Pinterest! Pinterest is a great visual search engine. Type in “work from home + your skill” and you’ll be flooded with a rush of pins on the topic (in most cases). Read those pins to uncover some awesome information gems that you might not find on big search engines like Google. Rinse and repeat.

Tip #4  Get organized

It can get overwhelming when you start seriously searching for work from home opportunities. Get organized so you can weed out awesome opportunities from the duds.
Make a list of prospects and don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and call. In today’s information age, you can go pretty far with email and online communication but a good ol’ phone call still has power and will set you apart from candidates that are sending email inquiries.

Tip #5  Do multiple opportunities

If you’d like some variety and want to avoid getting bored, mix and match opportunities to make it interesting. Some examples:
• Article writing + graphic design
• Transcription work + proofreading
• Online surveys + online panels
I love to do this. It really keeps things interesting.

Tip #6  Start a blog

Blogging can be quite lucrative. It’s great because it’s a passion project that you can really get into long term and you can start earning from day 1!

Tip #6  Surveys

Try out surveys. I know what you’re thinking but surveys are a great way to earn extra income. I get $10-$20 in offers from several survey banks on a daily basis! Think about if you completed $50 in surveys daily. Bank a cool $1,500 extra each month!

Tip #7  Make money Spring cleaning

Yes, Spring cleaning! The best of both: get rid of your stuff and make money!
Step 1-Go around your house and gather your old or unused stuff.
Step 2-Head to your local consignment store OR head to eBay
Step 3-List your items
Step 4-Get paid when they sell!

Easy! Get paid to clean up your house and simplify your life at the same time. It can’t get better than this. Some other places to sell your stuff online:
• OfferUp
• Craigslist
• Facebook (check out local yard sale groups)
• Poshmark (great for your gently used clothes)

Tip 8.) Have fun

This is an easy one. It sounds cliché but if you enjoy the work you’re doing from home, you are more likely to stick with it and do it long term, which is great for earning a LOT of money. An extra $1,000 working from home is an extra $12,000 per year! Remodel your kitchen, buy a car, put it away in a college savings account, pay off debt, etc. So many ideas!
